LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Kasidie.com today announced that its publishers, Scott and Nicoleta, were flown to New York by Tyra Banks for a special taping on alternative sexual lifestyles. As the representatives of the swingers community, they addressed issues ranging from jealousy to sexually transmitted diseases.
“We were very pleased when Tyra’s producers contacted us about appearing on her show”, said Nicoleta Purcell, Kasidie.com’s publisher. “Tyra is well known for promoting female empowerment and sex-positive ideals, which is what the swinging lifestyle is all about.” The show, titled “Is Your Sex Life Normal?” airs on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. EST.

This is excerpted from an article on the life of a sex and fetish writer (Emily Dubberley) that I found at independent.ie. To read the full article, click here.
I’m freelance. I write all my own books and edit magazines, too. I’m the founding editor of Scarlet magazine which is a sex magazine for women, full of erotic stories, with health and beauty features. I had previously set up cliterati.co.uk, a website for women. And I’ve just written a book called Friendly Fetish: A Beginner’s Guide to Kink. I write about sex for a living.
First thing I’ll do is check my emails. I get about 500 a day. Every morning I have to look through my spam filter and fish out 20 work-related emails, which have been quarantined because of their title content. It could be something about penis extenders or new vibrators. It could be a mail from a porn star I’ve booked in for doing an adult shoot for Knave magazine, a gentleman’s magazine I edit.
When I’m looking for a porn star for a shoot, I don’t tend to go for the spray-tanned, fake, plastic type of woman. I go for the girl-next-door type, all different sizes of breasts and recently we’ve used some fuller-figured women as well. It’s full nudity but not penetration. But instead of it being just a woman displaying herself, our shoots will have themes. The Knave issue I am editing right now has a film theme, so there’s an American Beauty shoot and another one is Cleopatra.
A lot of the time I will talk to the girls on email. If the girls don’t have any other shoots that week, I’ll ask them not to shave and let their hair grow a bit, so it looks more natural. But the landing strip is fine, too, because people are representing all different kinds of looks.
I got into writing about sex because I did a degree in psychology and specialised in sexuality. It was at a time when a lot of adult titles for women were emerging — Playgirl and For Women. I wanted to research male-versus-female attitudes to porn because, from a feminist perspective, I found it really interesting. It turned out that women were just as into porn as men but it had to be done in a slightly different way.
Women are more easily put off, for example, if one of the porn stars has got a horrible moustache or if the girl doesn’t look like she is enjoying herself. Women want more reality in fantasy. It’s wonderfully complex.

It’s such a softcore/exploitation flick cliche, but there really is a lesbian… sorry, “butch” wing in a prison in Virginia. Read on…
Virginia Women’s Prison Rounded Up All the Lesbians and Put Them in a “Butch Wing”

The goal was to “curb sexual activity,” Dan Savage notes. “Because… um… nothing puts a stop to homosexual activity faster than confining homosexuals together.”
The 1,200-inmate Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women in the conservative backwoods of Virginia would round up “dozens of inmates who had loose-fitting clothes, short hair or otherwise masculine looks” and send them to a special confined wing of the prison that guards derisively called the “butch wing.”
In men’s prisons, gay inmates are often segregated in order to protect them and maintain order. But it’s unconstitutional to discriminate among inmates based on their appearance, and once the Associated Press started asking the prison warden about the “butch wing,” the prison warden pulled the plug on the practice.
We can’t imagine the program was successful. As they say, when the butch dykes are away, the lipstick lesbians will play — just thinking of all that unbridled femme passion makes us want to sneak over to the bathroom and double-click our mouse.

Just In Case Makes It Into Huffington Post
Condom cases highlighted in ‘Taking the Wraps Off Condoms’ article
LOS ANGELES – Just In Case, the condom cases for women that are designed to double as a compact mirror, were featured in a recent article that appeared on The Huffington Post.
The article, “Taking the Wraps Off Condoms,” was published on the popular site Friday. It originally appeared on Empower – Women’s Health Online.
Penned by Marcia G. Yerman, the article covers the evolution of condoms and touched on the Just In Case products since they empower women to carry the contraceptive without embarrassment.
“Condoms have come a long way,” the article states. “Currently, a mother-daughter team is doing their part to promote women being pro-active about their own health and sexuality. Marsha G. Bartenetti and Rachael Sudul have developed a condom carrier that doubles as a mirrored compact. What looks to be a simple and attractive makeup accessory, serves a greater purpose. A hidden well contains two 2-inch by 2-inch condom foils.”
The inclusion of Just In Case in the article is just the latest in mainstream press the company has received in recent months. The mother-daughter duo and their cases were in a featured segment of the Jan. 13 episode of “The Doctors.”

I’ve just started reading a blog that explores sex and relationships from a womanly perspective. It’s always refreshing to see so many other horny girl bloggers out there… maybe I’m more visually oriented than most, but I haven’t gotten any complaints yet.
Here are some snippets that I wanted to share…
Juliette Fretté, aka Playboy‘s Miss June 2008, is the new Women’s Issues Examiner, and opens with an examination of different stripes of feminism – radical, socialist, male, eco, black, Chicana – and an introduction to her thesis and forthcoming book project, Posing for Playboy from a Feminist Perspective: How Media Images Impact Women’s Empowerment.
A Playmate who has a brain and is not afraid to use it? I think she’s my kind of lady.
Denver Sex & Romance Examiners Jordan LaRousse and Samantha Sade remind you to put a ring on it, with some hilarious videos and ads in Condoms: It’s not all business
Running with the theme here: Boston Health News Examiner Glenn Omanio reports FDA approves new female condom.
I hope it’s better than that VCF stuff…
Even safer sex: Relationship Advice Examiner Jessica Jackson breaks down the Top 10 songs that will ruin your chances. But I’m challenging her on Number 7: Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” is legit, as far as I’m concerned.
Yeah, I agree with the blogger; there’s nothing wrong with Marvin Gaye. Barry White is not the ultimate sex soundtrack for all of us.
